Group welcome meeting in the evening at your hotel in Negombo.
Take a 4-hour drive to Dambulla where you will visit cave temples and visit the local market.
Travel from Dambulla to the imposing fortress Sigiriya Rock which you will climb with the group and see the most amazing views of the lush surroundings. Return to Dambulla for a bike ride round the town spotting temples and monuments on the way.
Following a 3-hour drive you arrive in the city of Kandy, where you will explore the markets and hustle and bustle of this historic city, as well as the chance to visit the Botanical gardens and learn about the locally grown herbs and sprices in the Spice Garden.
See more of Kandy, in particular the historic Temple of the Tooth, home to one of the county's most important relic. Then spend the evening with a local family enjoying the delicaces of Sri Lankan cuisine and try your hand at dancing with local performers.
From Kandy you will head south-east through the green hills at the heart of Sri Lanka's tea-producing industry to what is known as 'Little England', which feels like a home-away-from-home with colonial buildings and even a fully-operational 'English' post office and a golf course. You will then take the train to Bandarawella, a journey with the most spectaular mountain views; a journey unlike no other!
Enjoy Bandarawella at a leisurely pace, walking through the countryside and admiring the acre after acre of tea plantations, followed by an even more leisurely afternoon doing what ever you want with your family.
Today you will travel to Uda Walawe National Park to spot the local bird- and wildlife, which is home to the most herds of elephants on the island.After lunch you will head to the Elephant Transit Home where you will learn about these magnificent creatures, then onwards to a late afternoon safari, where you will be on the look out for leopards. Then pitch up to your campsite for the evening.
Head to the beach town of Marissa where you can kick back and relax, and do your own family thing.
More time to yourself today, but then join the rest of your group for an evening visit to Galle, a Dutch Fort filled with luxurious and traditional shops and places to eat, and from where you have the most amazing sunsets.
Make the journey towards the island's capital, Colombo, explore the sights and sounds of this whirlwind city then spend the afternoon ith the group at a large park where you can play cricket or fly kites, then head back into the city for your last meal with everyone.
