European Holiday Parks Perfect for October Half Term

Though generally seen as a summer holiday option, a small selection of holiday parks stay open well beyond the main school holidays, offering many of the same facilities but at much lower prices – making them a great budget option for the October half term (with some we also offer exclusive discounts).  

Some remain open because they have indoor pools, others because they are handy for major attractions (including themeparks with their Halloween celebrations) and for city sightseeing. Some offer both benefits. However, do double-check at the time of booking which facilities will be available at the time of your visit, as not all activities continue outside the high season.

Spain

Eurocamp Vilanova Parc, Costa Dorada

Particularly recommended for families with teenagers, this park with its indoor pool and wellness centre is also close to PortAventura themepark (60 km), which is especially brilliant at Halloween, and to Barcelona (50km) – buses run to both. Alternatively, try Camping Sanguli, even handier for PortAventura.

The Netherlands

Eurocamp Duinrell, Wassenaar

This large site on the west coast is hugely popular, even when it’s too cold for the nearby beach – uniquely, it has its own themepark PLUS an indoor tropical pool complex. Other enticements include ten-pin bowling and go-karts.

Germany

Canvas Camping Landal Warsberg, Baden-Württemberg

Excellent facilities including an indoor lagoon pool and a brilliant playground make this hillside site in western Germany popular for an autumn break. Kids love the local chairlift to the pretty town of Saarburg, and there are lovely walks through the surrounding countryside and vineyards.

France

Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont, Picardy

This brilliant park has indoor pools and slides but is also perfectly placed for great days out, including Disneyland Paris (90km) and Parc Astérix (70km) with their Halloween events, as well as central Paris (100km).

Eurocamp Camping La Vallée, Normandy

A heated indoor pool makes this pleasant little site a good out-of-season choice – as does the option of bike hire for exploring the surrounding countryside and coastline, and some good nearby days out possibilities including Caen (30km) with its family-friendly war museum, the Mémorial de Caen.

Italy

Eurocamp Camping Bella Italia, Lake Garda

This popular lake-shore site is popular for its facilities, which vary by season, but also for its proximity to Gardaland themepark, which goes to town for Halloween.
