If you’re after a camping holiday so the kids can embrace the great outdoors and cook sausages over the fire but can’t bear the hassle of pitching a tent, this might just be your answer. You can leave the tent gathering dust in the attic and set off for a camping holiday with a difference.

You’ll all reap the benefits of the great outdoors and your kids will get to know the ins and outs of a working farm without having to rough it. Working loos save the grimaces from sensitive souls and wood-burning stoves add ambience. There’s no electricity so fans of gadgetry will feel shortchanged until they succumb to the charm of an idyllic lifestyle reminiscent of days gone by.

Kids will love the chance to meet the animals. A welcome pack keeps you going for a while but after that, you’re on your own and you’ll have to head out to chop wood and forage for supper. Well, not quite. Honesty shops are on all sites and allow you to help yourself to provisions.

Accommodation is in luxury tents or ‘canvas hideaways’ that sleep up to six, all very comfortable but if you are really can’t leave your creature comforts behind, you can upgrade to a tent with a shower en-suite or next door. You can even book a hot tub.
