Holiday Parks have moved on dramatically in recent years and are no longer the sole domain of an elderly generation supping tea from chintzy chinaware. Instead, you’ll find a haven for kids and adults alike with oodles of facilities on hand to keep the boredom well and truly at bay, kids clubs to take them off your hands from time to time and comfy accommodation.
Dotted around the British coastline you won’t even have to suffer a long car journey with the kids in tow to get to one of them. And when you do all pile out at the other end, you’ll find yourselves stuck for choice when deciding how to fill your time. Close to the beaches you can always opt for the traditional bucket and spade fun but you and yours might just want to take the plunge and try out some of the water-based activities such as paddle boarding and surfing.
For rainy days there are indoor-heated pools with all the prerequisite slides and flumes necessary for making a splash and toddler pools to keep the tiny ones in the loop as well. High adrenaline activities take care of excess energy with multi sports courts, bikes for hire, climbing walls and high ropes courses for little (or big) monkeys.
If your kids aren’t brimming with confidence, coaches are on hand to reassure and teach them the ropes. Reluctant teens can be coaxed out of bed with the chance to explore the site on segways or to have a go on Easy Gliders (electric powered scooters) across an obstacle course (check sites).
Things don’t slow down in the evenings (unless you want them to) with family entertainment to end your day on a high before heading into the comfort of your temporary home, which could be a modern caravan with all the trimmings, a chalet, luxury lodge or even a glamping tent for that safari feeling.
