This action-packed trip takes you on a journey through South Africa's stunning scenery as you explore the delights of cosmopolitan Cape Town, enjoy the sight of the famous African penguins on Boulders Beach and then seek out the legendary "Big Five" on safari. The final leg of your trip, takes you on to Zimbabwe and the wonder that is Victoria Falls. One of G Adventures' National Geographic Family Journeys, this trip is perfect for adventure-loving families, looking to make amazing memories together. The minimum age for the trip is 7 years old and the itinerary is suitable for most fitness levels - nothing too challenging. As part of a group of like-minded families (max. 20 in a group), you'll be staying in quality accommmodation and the 11-day itinerary combines a good mix of included and optional activities, so that you can tailor the trip to your family.


This trip to Southern Africa is currently scheduled for departures in March, July, August, October and December.


Hotel (5 nights), safari lodge (3 nights) and guest house (2 nights). Meals included: 10 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 5 dinners. 


From £2,999 per adult and £2,839 per child (7-12yrs) including accommodation, domestic transport, some meals and some activities. Flights to/from South Africa can be arranged at an additional cost.


Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel. You may have time to explore before meeting your fellow travellers and group leaders at an evening welcome gathering.

Day 2: Join a day-long tour of the Cape Peninsula, stopping at Boulders Beach to watch the entertaining antics of thousands of African Penguins. Continue on to the notorious Cape of Good Hope and climb up to the lighthouse at Cape Point. Return to Cape Town via the specatular Chapman's Peak Drive.

Day 3: Enjoy a day at leisure in Cape Town or join a variety of optional excursions. There is so much to do and see here, so you can tailor the day to suit your family - Table Mountain, Robben Island, Iziko Slave Lodge, Two Oceans Aquarium and more.

Day 4: Fly from Cape Town to the Greater Kruger National Park and settle into your lodge, close to the wildlife reserve.

Day 5: Enjoy a full-day safari in Kruger National Park and keep your eyes peeled for elephants, giraffes, leopards, hippos, lions, zebras and more as you explore.

Day 6: Head out for an early-morning safari, before spending the afternoon as you please - relax by the pool or opt for one of two exciting excursions - a zip-wire and tree-top ropes course.

Day 7: Today you go to Chimp Eden, run by the Jane Goodall Institute of South Africa. The first and only chimpanzee sanctuary in the country, this is a fascinating place. Afterwards, relax and enjoy the scenery on the way to Johannesburg.

Day 8: Step back millions of years in time on a visit to the Cradle of Humankind, where fossils of some of our earliest known human ancestors were discovered. In the evening, enjoy a traditional South African braai (barbeque).

Day 9: Fly to Zimbabwe and check in to your hotel before joining a local guide for a tour of Victoria Falls - one of the largest waterfalls on Earth when in full flow. 

Day 10: Today you are free to explore Victoria Falls and its surroundings. You can chooce from a number of excursions in the day, including white-water rafting or memorable helicopter ride. In the evening join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner with a performance of local music and dance. 

Day 11: Your trip comes to an end and it's time to head home - or your can extend your trip if there is more you see and do - discuss it with us when you book.
