Nicole Grimsdale

Nicole GrimsdaleNicole Grimsdale began her journalism career as a cadet reporter for The Gold Coast Bulletin in Queensland, Australia. After a spell doing police rounds and the television pages, she decided she was really a poet and devoted many years to ‘gaining life experience’ to inform her work.

She has worked as a fashion stylist, a cabinet-maker and a chef, had her own fashion label and boutique, taught yoga in Vietnam, edited two magazines for the bridal market, Wedding and Jewellery, and contributed to lifestyle magazines writing about yoga.

Her poetry and prose has been published in Australian literary journals, and she has performed her work extensively.

Her two children, Phoebe and River, are 8 and 4 respectively. As an Australian married to a Brit and living in south Manchester, she fields many questions along the lines of ‘what are you doing here?’ England is not all that bad, she says.
