Noelle Salmi

Noelle Salmi, who writes about travel and parenting, is the author of Frommer’s San Francisco with Kids and Frommer’s San Francisco Day by Day, and was a regular contributor to Bay Area Parent. She has worked for newspapers and news services in New York, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro and Berlin, and her writing has appeared in USA Today, San Francisco Chronicle, Jornal do Brasil and elsewhere.

Noelle grew up in Uruguay, Brazil and California, before adding South Africa, London and Berlin to her list of residences. When she met her Finnish husband Mika in New York, she knew they were two of a kind. With their children, they’ve explored glaciers in Patagonia, viewed the midnight sun on the Arctic Circle, and hiked through the nighttime jungle in Costa Rica.

Recently, Noelle and Mika decided to go one step further and have their three kids, aged 3, 9 and 11, actually live in another country. In the summer of 2010 the Salmi family left their home in San Francisco, California, and moved to Barcelona, Spain – from where many more family travel adventures are planned.
