Coral Reef Club, Barbados
Coral Reef Club is an intimate, low-key, family-run boutique hotel on the west coast of Barbados, resplendent with whitewashed latticework and balustrades, set amongst 12 acres of gorgeous gardens. It's well suited to those who want to relax, take time out to discover Caribbean culture and/or try their hand at watersports and tennis. There are plenty of complimentary watersports (sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling) – kids can have lessons in these as well as tennis. There’s also a playground in the gardens and a kids’ club in July and August.
There are 2 pools, a bar and a restaurant with a weekly barbecue featuring fire-eating shows and limbo dancing. The owners also host a weekly cocktail party in their own house. Children can eat in their rooms between certain times, and Chef's happy to prepare younger kids’ food. Accommodation ranges from rooms to luxury cottages/suites and villas in the grounds, all stylishly furnished with rattan furniture and cream furnishings, and some with private lawn or plunge pool.
Coral Reef Club is just a 20-minute walk from Holetown, a vibrant town with plenty of restaurants and shops.
