Peru Family Adventure with Teenagers

This 7-day trip in Peru is designed with older children in mind and gives families a taste of all this wonderful country has to offer. Along the way, the itinerary takes you from the city to the mountains. It offers an engaging combination of cultural activities and more active activities - you'll learn some history, hike part of the Inca trail, meet some locals and learn about their lives, go cycling and go paddleboarding. This is a trip from which you'll return with memories to treasure forever.

Minimum age: 12 years

Got younger children? We also have a number of itineraries for families with younger children, including the Peru Family Holiday for families with children from 5-years-old.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cusco

Arrive in Cusco, the continent's oldest inhabited city. Transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Visit a local potter and try your hand at crafting your own special souvenirs.

Day 2: Cycle to Pisac

Grab your bikes and enjoy a gentle cycle along the River Urubamba to the little town of Pisac. Spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the local market with its artisan stalls, before being driven back to your hotel.

Day 3: Paddleboarding on Lake Huaypo

Enjoy the beautiful Andean Scenery as you paddleboard on the blue waters of the Huaypo lagoon.

Day 4: Hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Time to put your walking boots on as you join the Inca Trail to hike to Machu Picchu. There, you'll have time to take in the views before descending to the town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 5: Machu Picchu & Cusco

An early start today enables you to beat the masses and enjoy a morning tour of Machu Picchu. Afterwards, you will hop on the train, back along the Urubamba Valley to Cusco.

Day 6: Sacsayhuaman Fortress & Chocolate

Climb up to the old Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman and enjoy the views over Cusco. Back in town, learn how chocolate is made and have a go at making your own bar of Peruvian chocolate.

Day 7: Llamas, Alpacas & Condors

Today is all about animals, with a visit to Cocahuasi animal sanctuary to meet some llamas and alpacas, and maybe some condors too.

Day 8: Time to go home...or maybe not?

Your tour comes to an end today with a flight back to the UK. Alternatively, you could extend your trip with time on the Amazon or Lake Titicaca, or some time in Lima. Discuss the options with us when booking.
