Kids in Nature: Alaska Adventure Cruise

Day 1: Juneau, Alaska - Embarkation

Board the Wilderness Legacy and enjoy a warm welcome with Champagne or a refreshing mocktail as you toast the start of this wonderful family adventure. 

Day 2: Hobart Bay

In the morning, choose between a scenic kayak excursion with trained guides or joining the team of naturalists for a hike into the surrounding landscape. Later, embark on a skiff-ride and get up-close to the bay's stunning glaciers - keep an eye out for eagles soaring overhead. Back on the ship, enjoy some games and activities over Happy Hour, and exchange stories of the day's activities.

Day 3: LeConte Glacier

LeConte Glacier is the southernmost tidewater glacier in the Northern Hemisphere and offers an awe-inspiring landscape. You won't see any mega-cruise ships here - they can't navigate the complicated waters. Instead, you'll have a front-row seat from the ship and can head off to explore by kayak or skiff, or go ashore among the icebergs that are stranded on the beach.

Day 4: Thomas Bay, Land of Kushtaka

Today, you will drop anchor in one of the crew's favourite spots, Thomas Bay, which leads to a beautiful series of waterfalls, known as Cascade Creek. Heading ashore, you can join a hike through the beautiful woodland to find the falls - you'll hear them before you see them. Later, after a hearty meal back on board, there is the option to kayak to a salmon run or take a skiff tour in search of bears.

Day 5: Whale Watching & Kuiu Island

Your playground for today is the west side of Kuiu Island. This is black bear country, and the island has one of the densest populations. In the calm waters of an island bay, you'll be on the lookout for the smallest marine mammal on earth: the sea otter. You may also spot humpback whales, which patrol the nearby reefs in search of schools of herring.

Day 6: Brown Bear Search, Chichagof Island

Chichagof Island offers a number of areas where you may have the opportunity to spot the elusive Coastal Brown Bear. The ship's captain and Expedition Leader will use their expertise to seek out hidden corners, to get you deep into the areas with the best chance of seeing a bear. Today's activity options include shore walks, kayaking and skiff rides. The bears thrive here, ensuring a day filled with awe-inspiring encounters.

Day 7: Glacier Bay National Park

This national park covers a vast 3.3 million acres (bigger than the whole of Yorkshire). Most visitors visit the same tiny area. Not you. Today, you have the opportunity to explore parts that 99% of visitors never go to. You will be hiking in the outwash plains along the Fairweather Mountain Range, enjoying the cool breeze rolling off the nearby snow and icefields. At the end of the day, it's time for the Captain's Dinner and then a slideshow of all the amazing things you've done on this incredible journey.

Day 7: Disembarkation back at Juneau, Alaska

After breakfast on board, it's time to disembark, saying farewell to the crew and new friends and waving goodbye...until next time.
