Crosby Street Hotel, SoHo, New York

New York is a fabulous place to explore with the kids but not such an easy destination when it comes to good family-friendly places to stay. Crosby Street Hotel is up there as one of our favourites.

Located in SoHo, amidst trendy shops, bars and restaurants, this contemporary boutique hotel is just a short walk from several subway stations. The 86 stylish contemporary rooms have gorgeous pops of colour and lush fabrics; suites can sleep up to six. 

The big attraction is the the 99-seat screening room, where a movie of the week is shown each Sunday evening as a package with a three-course meal (great with teens). Or there's the rooftop kitchen garden, where staff will let you take junior guests to see where their food comes from in the heart of the city (it includes a coop with chickens that produce unique blue eggs!).

The bar has all-day dining and an alfresco terrace, and the sculpture garden with its outdoor furniture is another boon when the weather's fine.
