Set within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Gargano National Park, 5km from the village of Vieste, the Gattarella Puglia Resort is a wonderful place for a family holiday. Set on the hillside, there are delightful views of the sea and the resort's long, sandy beach. The accommodation has families in mind and there are options for families of all sizes, with the biggest suite sleeping 10 and some options set close to the beach, while others are surrounded by the beautiful pine forest - and there's a shuttle service to run you around the resort if legs get tired.

Gattarella sets out to offer a fun-filled holiday to guests of all ages - from the smallest tots to the tallest teens, and of course parents and grandparents too. They can provide much of the equipment you might need for a baby or toddler and dedicated staff run their Baby Club, which is kitted out with Montessori-style equipment. There are a number of clubs for older children as well, each with its own fun programme of activities, and two teen clubs, where older children can hang out and socalise.

Through the resort, you'll find lots to do - from watersports on the beach to a high-ropes course in the forest, tennis courts to a relaxing wellness area with amazing views. The beach itself is perfect for all ages too, with a gentle slope that makes is perfect for paddling, as well as facilities for families such as baby changing, just to make life easier.

This is Italy so of course you can expect great food too, and the resort has 3 restaurants to choose from - including a traditional pizzeria. On half-board, breakfast and evening meals are included in an allocated restaurant or you can pay extra to upgrade to 'dine-around' and enjoy them all. Alternatively, if you'd prefer more flexibility, the Residence apartments give you the option of self-catering and eating out when you choose.

All in all, the Gattarella has all the ingredients to make a wonderful family holiday, and though not yet well known with the British, we're sure it will soon become a favourite.

The resort is made up of a hotel area, with rooms and suites, and a residence area, with apartments, all set within attractive grounds. There is a wide variety of accommodation options for families:

Hotel (on a half-board basis):

Classic Sea View - sleeps 2 adults and 1 child, with king or twin beds plus an extra bed, and a veranda.
Deluxe Sea View - sleeps 2 adults and 1 child, with king or twin beds plus an extra bed, and a veranda. Recently renovated.
Family Park - sleeps up to 5, with a double bedroom and a twin/double bedroom plus the option of adding an extra bed. There is also a veranda and some have a kitchenette. Simple style.
Family Deluxe Park - sleeps up to 5, with a double bedroom, a twin/double bedroom and a living area with single sofa bed.
Deluxe Plus Sea View - sleeps up to 4 with a double room and living room with sofa bed. Newly renovated.
Family Executive Park - sleeps 10, with 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin/double bedrooms plus a living room with sofa beds and a kitchen and dining area. Located close to the sea (100m), surrounded by forest. Includes half-board dine-around and prosecco/biscuits on arrival.
Family Seaside - sleeps up to 7. Configuration varies, with options that have up to 3 bedrooms.

Whether you're looking for childcare for your little ones or somewhere for your teens to hang out and meet others, the Gatteralla has it covered. The creche has been designed with the Montessori method in mind and the kids' clubs offer a fun programme of activities that make the most of the fun facilities the resort offers. The teens clubs have a laid-back approach where teens can relax and socialise without their parents being 'in the way'. The options include:

Baby Cat: for children 0-2 years old. 2 hours free per day. Open 10-18.00 and in the evenings 20.00-22.00.
Mini Cat: for 3-5-year-olds. Open 09.30-18.00. Supplement applies for lunch.

Location

Located on the coast of Puglia, the closest airport option is Bari, which is just over 2 hours' drive. Alternatively, you could fly into Naples (just over 3 hours). There are flight options from a number of UK airports. To get to the resort, choose between private transfers from Bari, or a hire car.
